Labor Day Weekend 2010
Due to the unexpected weather conditions we were unable complete this year’s JHSASN 2010 Tournament. This year’s champions were highly anticipated and promised to be very exciting as any of the seven remaining teams could have claimed the 2010 National Weekly Cup (Camperdown, Garvey Maceo, Manchester High, Jamaica College, Cornwall College, Mannings, and Trench Town). We greatly appreciate the professionalism and competitiveness displayed by all participating teams despite the poor weather conditions.
The JHSASN board members along with several team captains has gone over several options on how to resolve the issue at hand, reschedule to a later date were the most favorable option. However, there were two restrictions preventing rescheduling of games: 1. Several teams had players coming in from out of town, which they had to return home immediately after the tournament. 2. Being able to rent another facility on such short notice was not feasible.
After careful consideration the JHSASN board members has decided to divide the prize amongst the seven remaining teams and apply it to their entry fees for the 2011 JHSASN tournament, granted all current obligations has been met.
We do understand that this decision cannot replace the bragging rights of the National Weekly Cup nor your almata, however, the actions of Mother Nature is beyond our control.
A press release will be published in this week’s National Weekly news paper, be sure to pick up a copy.
